Sage & Kirby's Farmhouse Wedding at Tyrone Farm in Pomfret, CT

Sage and Kirby’s wedding plans at Tyrone Farm in Pomfret, CT seemed to chase a similarly low-key, super relaxed atmosphere our own wedding aimed for back in 2016, and it was a pleasure to document the goings-on. While Sage actually grew up near Pomfret, Kirby and his family are from Louisiana so there was quite a vibrant mashing of New England and New Orleans style going on that day amidst the summer haze. Tyrone Farm is both a beautiful place to host a wedding as well as a working horse farm, and the grounds are classic rural Connecticut: beautiful old maples line the main drive and the old farmhouse looks out over a wheat field towards the hills. This played right into the atmosphere they wanted for their day which was laid back, casual, and rural feeling enough to really let loose.

Sage and Kirby went with a day-plan that created as stress-free a wedding as possible, which for them meant getting ready together at a cottage on-site, nixing a DJ or live band in favor of DJ K-Sav’s (spoiler: this is Kirby) meticulously curated playlist, serving pizza family style, and doing away with any formal dances or toasts. The result was essentially the best party you’ve ever been to, a sentiment we heard echoed by many throughout the evening as the dancing carried on. The absence of formality invited both silliness and nostalgia to run rampant, and it was so much fun to watch folks who hadn’t seen each other since college or childhood reunite on the dance floor to shake it to increasingly wild tunes from the nineties and early two thousands - right up until last call. As the final song played out into the thick evening air and everyone exited the barn with sparklers in hand, Sage and Kirby looked positively radiant. The end of a wedding is always a surreal experience for everyone, including us, as the realization dawns that all of that hard work and planning finally paid off.
