Carly & Nick's SoHo Wedding at Houston Hall in NYC

Carly and Nick both live and work in the city; Carly is a TV producer for a popular talk show and Nick is a high school teacher and both feel deeply connected to the place they’ve called home. So much of their history together involves the city - from where they first met in 2018 over a shared love for Seinfeld and specifically George Costanza (they even named their beloved doggo Georgie!) to the life they’ve built together since that holding their wedding there was the perfect way to pay homage to it. The heat, however, necessitated an awareness of how much time we spent outside throughout the day. We started at Arlo SoHo, where Carly and Nick very casually got ready together and prepped for the festivities, and shortly after made our way to Houston Hall, a reclaimed industrial looking space with lots of natural light and a big atmosphere (and air conditioning!). The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception would all be held there which meant minimal time spent in the hot summer air and plenty of time spent laughing, eating, and dancing the night away together. Following a brief ceremony and some first dances, we snuck away with Carly and Nick and took a car to the Hudson River for a moment of quiet, a moment of calm, and a few photos as the sun hung low in the sky.

After returning to Houston Hall and listening to her dad’s (ridiculously funny) toast, Carly got out of her chair, thanked everyone for coming, and directed everyone’s attention towards a projector screen. Carly had pulled some strings at work and, low and behold, Jason Alexander himself had recorded a video to wish them well in their marriage in character as George Costanza, and the place went wild. This kicked off the second half of an evening full of dancing and cheering, replete with joy and plenty of good beer. Congo lines, impromptu rounds of limbo, and too many other coordinated group dances to count filled the dance floor and just before we packed our things for the night stacks of pizza from Bleecker Street PIzza arrived to refuel the crowd. Carly and Nick, amidst a blazingly hot weekend in the city, managed to keep cool and have a rip roaring good time with all of their loved ones and being there to document it was such a pleasure.
