Avani & Will's Intimate Seaside Wedding in Westport, MA

Avani and Will got in touch with us just this past March with plans to have a smaller, more intimate wedding than originally anticipated with just their immediate families in attendance, and at the top of their list of priorities was that it felt true to their unique story. Wedding days are the culmination of tons of hard work and planning, and despite the relatively short window of time between when we heard from them and their actual wedding, it was plain to see how much intensive care was poured into every last detail. Combining western and Indian marriage traditions and holding the ceremony in a place that means so much to them and their families gave this tiny wedding a strong unifying purpose. As they proceeded through a variety of ceremonial traditions together, waves lapped at the backside of the rocks which cradled the ceremony site adorned with scarlet fabric, bunches of stunning florals, and photos of loved ones not present. This wedding was an opportunity to honor family and turn loss into a beautiful celebration of the future, and Avani and Will whole heartedly embraced that. Through the tears, both happy and sad, their dedication to each other was clear and it was so beautiful to witness the strength they gave to one another. After the ceremony was over we explored some favorite spots of Will’s (whose family has been spending summers in Westport for years) before heading back to his parents’ house where their families would share a meal and relax in the June air. It doesn’t take much at all, really, to create something as meaningful as this wedding was, and it was a humbling experience to be able to document it.
