Christine & Albert's Elegant Summer Wedding at Hildene in Manchester, VT

Where do we start? We’ve come out of hibernation and officially gotten our first wedding of 2021 on the books and it feels good. So good, and for so many reasons. We realized mid last week that we booked this wedding in August of 2019 (notice the original 2020 wedding date on the invites!), in the before times, and when someone asked Albert just before the ceremony started if he was ready his reply was, “I’ve never been more ready for anything in my entire life.” After a long winter spent being professional emailers, getting out and not only seeing people in person but photographing them together, celebrating a couple as patient, genuine, and kind as Christine and Albert felt sweeter than we could have imagined. The anxiety and stress of getting back into it melted away after arriving in Manchester and saying hi to these folks as they made final preparations for their day at Hildene.

Speaking of which, this was our first time visiting and working at Hildene, the Lincoln family home, a venue we’d heard about for a long while before ever booking a wedding there. It was as impressive in person as we’d seen in photos online, and the building’s presence proved an interesting backdrop for this elegant, garden-party style wedding. The highly manicured grounds were incredible, the surrounding mountain views were spectacular, and the estate itself was grand in a way we’re not used to seeing in Vermont. That being said, Christine and Albert couldn’t have been more relaxed and accommodating the entire day. It’s a special thing, being trusted to do your job, and these two afforded us that luxury. We so appreciated their willingness, understanding, and creative inspiration while we worked, and having them enthusiastically cheer us on all along was such a nice way to start our season.
