Eva & Rob's Summertime Wedding in Averbode, Belgium

In the year leading up to their wedding, Eva & Rob had a huge task ahead of them: get everyone they love, some local and some coming from across the world (like we did), to the beautifully quaint and utterly serene town of Averbode, Belgium about an hour east of Brussels. If you read the Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters by Priya Parker like these two did in preparation for throwing the biggest party of their lives thus far, you’ll find more than a little bit about how to build up a mystique for your event. Other than an address and a genuine love for Eva & Rob, attendees were left to speculate what a wedding between these two would look like and I think we speak for most when we say that we couldn’t have imagined a more graceful affair. This was all sort of part of the plan though, to build that mystique, and it worked wonders. The amount of care that went into making sure each and every guest felt like they were part of a greater adventure was palpable. The beautiful bilingual ceremony was delivered in both Dutch and English, and encouraged guest interaction featuring a ring warming as well as clippings of natural confetti to toss over the happy couple upon their exit. Between the ceremony site nestled between tall pines, the waterside lounge area sprouting trees adorned with hanging candles and swinging chairs, and a surprise fireworks display during their rainy first dance, this wedding never lost focus of the celebration. By the second DJ set starting around 3:00am we finally put our cameras down and had an absolute blast celebrating with Eva and Rob as well as their friends and family, and we won’t soon forget how much fun we had dancing until the sun came up. They gave the gift of an adventure to all who attended by choosing to have their wedding in Belgium, and those of us who traveled such a way to experience it are especially grateful to have been a part of it.
