Kerstin & Mike's Zukas Hilltop Barn Wedding, Spencer MA

Kerstin has a hidden talent for finding four leaf clovers. In fact, she found three on the morning of her wedding alone: two for the box with the rings and one in the card she wrote for Mike, given to him before the ceremony. “She’s always finding them,” Mike said. This sense of curiosity and surprise and adventurousness is central to their relationship, and is likely responsible for the fact that they have been to six continents together. Their wedding day was filled with surprises too. If you looked hard enough you’d find dinosaurs everywhere from Kerstin’s earrings to the centerpieces to the balloons at cocktail hour. Kerstin’s father’s brewery, Medusa Brewing, supplied a bunch of craft beer for the reception, while family and friends supported them through officiating the ceremony and interpretive dances instead of speeches. While these fun details are great and all, the one takeaway for us as photographers while we reviewed the images from the day was the way they looked at one another. There was a really, truly deep connection happening there each and every time their eyes met and it gives us goosebumps just writing about it. We’re always enchanted by the couples we photograph as there is a different side of love on display that’s refreshing and often new to us, and Kerstin & Mike were no exception there. They’ve built their relationship on solid ground and the way their families embraced that love was such an honor to witness.
