Noël & Max's Snowy Wedding at the Providence Public Library in Providence, RI

Noël and Max currently live here in Providence and have made it their temporary home base while they both pursue degrees in their chosen fields, but it’s not where they first met. That story involves an archaeological dig site in Sicily which led to a four year courtship that culminated in a romantic proposal on the shores of Lake Eerie, where Max offered Noël a ring from that same Sicilian town where they first met playing in the dirt together. All this is to say that these two exemplify modern romance in a way that charmed us so completely that when they reached out to tell us their story, their plans for a wedding in our adopted hometown, and eagerly wanted to meet up to make some photos together we didn’t hesitate for a moment. They started their wedding day by spending quality time wither their closest friends and siblings, all getting ready together in a beautiful building on the east side of town before heading to the library. It was clearly important to the both of them that their guests’ experience was paramount, and they made sure to visit and say hello to each and every person that made it to their wedding.

Friends and family traveled from all over the world to witness their wedding day - Max’s family is Canadian and their travels across continents together meant heaps of international guests - and we appreciated that at the center of it all was their wedding ceremony. That may sound silly but their attention to detail was never more apparent than during their vows to one another. Incorporating musical performances from friends and choral performances from family that invited all in attendance to join in, their ceremony was as inclusive as it was mindful, as intentional as it was thoughtful, and so very beautiful to witness. As they strode from the room grinning ear to ear to cheers from the crowd, snow started to fall rapidly on the marble steps leading up to the front of the library. There’s definitely something to be said about the level of intensity on a dance floor when the weather outside is frightful, and though we were only there for a few songs we can confirm that people were gettin’ weird quick. Before embracing the chaos of the dance floor, Noël and Max stepped outside with us to embrace the chaos of the wintry squall in a moment that felt triumphant; they’d done what they set out to accomplish, and they did it their way.
