Jackie & Casey's Foggy Spring Wedding at Eolia Mansion in Waterford, CT

Jackie and Casey’s wedding near the coast last weekend at Eolia Mansion, our first of the year, had some of the foggiest, moodiest weather we’ve ever seen. Nestled within Harkness Memorial State Park, an outcropping of land dotted with windswept trees that overlooks the Long Island sound, the mansion itself was shrouded in mist when we arrived and stayed that way throughout the evening. The wedding was black tie but relaxed thanks to the smaller size, intimate but grand thanks to its surroundings, and paced in a way that allowed Jackie and Casey to spend time with loved ones as well as one another. That’s something that, like us, Jackie knows is all too precious on a wedding day since she’s co-owner of Acacia Floral Co. based in Tampa, FL. Jackie and her partner did all of the florals for the wedding and, on top of being beautiful work, the mix of blushing tulips and hand dyed ferns popped brightly in contrast with the subdued light coming through the fog. Everyone at this wedding was so supportive of and happy for Jackie and Casey, and the outpouring of love from lifelong friends and family alike was beautiful to see. We really appreciated how hard these two leaned into the foggy weather, even stepping out into the heavy evening air with us before we left for the night to make some incredibly moody portraits under the lamps lining the driveway. It’s such a humbling thing to witness the joining of two families, something we’ve missed having the privilege to document, and we’re so glad to be back.
