Kate & Zack's Wedding Weekend in Vermont

It feels right to start and finish our season in Vermont, Hannah’s home state, and tying things up with one of our favorite hikes in Vermont with Kate and Zack before their wedding was the best ending to a crazy year that we could have hoped for. These two have had quite a year also, after moving in stages across the country from Colorado to settle in Massachusetts for work all while planning a wedding in COVID times. We first met with them on Friday about an hour east of where their wedding would take place on Sunday, along with their dogs Nala and Wiley. The four of them are avid hikers and self described nature lovers so it was our distinct honor to show them around a favorite spot of ours. It was a lovely way to start off the weekend, and it felt surreal to make work in a place so close to our hearts. Fast forward a couple of days to Sunday afternoon and we found Kate and Zack amongst family and friends at the charming Skinner Barn in Waitsfield. In stark contrast to the previous couple of days, there was hardly a cloud in the sky and the sun warmed the chilled earth just enough to make an outdoor wedding feasible in late October. Their wedding, though slightly larger than originally planned, had under 50 guests which kept the mood intimate and casual (more of this in the future please). Little details like the dried flowers and maple syrup from Zack’s hometown in upstate NY, the collection of past family wedding photos at the reception, the flower crown that Kate wore that belonged to her grandmother all really highlighted their love for family. Adding to the overall vibe were the plucky string sounds from the Four Bridges Bluegrass Band, one of Kate and Zack’s main priorities for their wedding. They are huge music lovers and in a normal world spend heaps of time going to shows and concerts, so entrusting the soundtrack of their wedding to this crew just felt right. Goofy toasts from siblings, gifted alpine skis, and a beautifully fall themed dinner set the tone for the rest of the evening. Dancing along to bluegrass to stay warm in the October chill and sipping on local Vermont beer, Kate and Zack’s wedding weekend came to a close surrounded by their favorite people in one of their favorite parts of the country.
