Ijin & Jae's Misty and Modern Wedding at 250 Long Pond in the Berkshires

Ijin and Jae may hold the title for longest we’ve corresponded with of all the folks we’ve worked with in the past four years. It has been on our calendars at various dates since the fall of 2019, and with some family traveling from outside the country, Ijin and Jae were forced to rethink, then rethink again their plans to celebrate with their loved ones. They live in Brooklyn, NY - Ijin works as an art dealer and Jae teaches piano at his own school - and living there through the pandemic may have very well informed their decision to postpone twice. After all was said in done their plans landed on a Tuesday, and we hope that prospective couples see their wedding and realize that a mid-week wedding can be a truly beautiful thing. Nestled in the densely wooded hills of the Berkshires, the house at 250 Long Pond juts out of a rocky outcropping and appears seemingly out of nowhere. We pulled up once again into the drive and found the stubbornly angular building peeking out from the early fall foliage, the surrounding forest enveloped in a dense fog. The entire day seemed to exist within a cloud which only added to the surreal feeling of “we are actually, finally shooting this wedding.”

After so much time spent on how, Ijin and Jae decided that comfort would take priority for their wedding day. We showed up well before the ceremony to hang out, relax, and really fall into a groove with these two before any guests arrived, and it afforded us the time to explore around the property with them. 250 is such a unique place and photographing people moving in and out of the many carefully curated spaces is a treat for us as photographers, and as appreciators of unique modern architecture we found ourselves quite enjoying our time there. Ijin and Jae planned a ‘deconstructed wedding,’ having been legally married over a year prior at the start of COVID, and really just wanted to honor their families and dearest friends in the most beautiful place they could. Witnessing them get ready together, spend heaps of time enjoying one another’s company, and renew their vows in what felt like an autumn daydream was an honor to photograph, and we’re glad to have been there to document it all.
