Stephanie & Kyle's Fall Wedding at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall in Easton, MA

Getting to photograph a fellow RIT graduate is always a particular honor for us. When Stephanie reached out last year we of course had no idea what this year would have in store for us all, nevertheless we were excited to work with a former classmate. We were even more intrigued to find it would be hosted at the Oakes Ames Memorial Hall; a grand Romanesque structure set atop a granite outcropping in the historic mill town of Easton. We love a good bit of architectural significance, especially when Frederick Law Olmsted is responsible for any part of it. It was a unique and visually stunning location for the occasion, one that encouraged safe distancing while maintaining a sense of purpose for their wedding plans. A ceremony in the adjacent garden followed by cocktail hour on the grand staircase and dinner on the rather grand covered balcony of the hall itself made for a lovely evening that always kept the health and safety of its guests in mind. We absolutely love the directions weddings have taken this year, for better or for worse. Non-traditional venues, shorter guest lists, more outdoor time later into the year and a more direct focus on the act of marriage has made for a very interesting year photographically speaking. It might sound crazy, but we could get used to these sorts of changes moving forward.
