2018 Year in Review

2018 was truly a year of change and of trusting in our instincts. Year of change is a statement that seems to be broadcasted around a lot as the year wraps up and the new year begins, but this is truly the first year we’ve truly felt it. It was the first year in a long time that felt like not just like another date passing by, but a like a true accomplishment. We moved ourselves and our business from Baltimore, a place we had survived our twenties in, to Providence Rhode Island, a place we had both only visited once in middle January for a few days the previous year. We’ve gotten asked a lot why we decided to move, and the easier answer has been that Providence is closer to family and friends, but truthfully we moved here based on just on a gut feeling we had. It’s hard to describe and it was pretty impossible to ignore. We’re overwhelmed with how quickly our new city feels like home for us, and for the first time in years we’ve felt comfortable enough with our surroundings to really want to put down roots and stay in one place for a while. It’s hard to quantify how much this means to us, but it’s been a really monumentally good thing.

In the midst of moving and getting acquainted with our new home in Rhode Island we traveled to photograph weddings in five different states, some places new and others familiar. 2019 is set to be a big one for us and we’re looking forward to traveling to Belgium for the first time to shoot the wedding of some dear friends, and traveling to Maine, Maryland, Vermont, and the Catskills to photograph weddings. Thank you to our families and friends who gave us support this year by letting us crash at your place while we shot weddings all over (and usually with our begrudging cat in tow), talked us down from moving freak outs and self employment panics, and came to visit us when we needed to see some familiar faces in the midst of so much change. Most of all, thank you to all of you who invited us into your lives for a day. In doing so you allowed us to witness and preserve your stories, and this will always be driving factor behind everything we do. We hope everyone had a happy New Year and we wish you all the best in the year to come!
