Tiana & Niko's Intimate Wedding at Vic at Spring Hill in the Hudson Valley

When we first heard from Tiana and Niko they very casually dropped that they have a gray Maine Coon named Gandalf that they pushed around Brooklyn in a stroller while themselves wearing witch and wizard outfits for Halloween last year. If you know us at all, you’ll know they had us at "cat” and from there on was just icing on the already very compatible cake. Initially planning a courthouse wedding, Tiana and Niko decided they’d instead host a very small, very intimate wedding at a private residence in the Hudson Valley that was 100% of what they wanted it to be versus settling for anything less. The result of this was one of the most beautifully detailed and realized visions for a wedding we’ve ever had the privilege of witnessing.

Tiana and Niko, wedding stuff aside, are incredibly kind, funny, and generous people. We connected on cats and a goofy sense of humor first but came to understand throughout the wedding day that they’re just genuinely lovely folks to spend time around. It was important to them for the time they had in Valatie to feel like a retreat for their loved ones on top of celebrating their wedding, and by the time we showed up last Wednesday it sure felt like everyone had acclimated to their surroundings. Making photos of them and their immediate families felt less like work than ever and on top of all that they invited us to sit for dinner with the other 14 guests in attendance; they made us feel like family and we’ll never forget it.

Tiana and Niko’s eye for detail was evident everywhere; a wildflower theme was carried through the bouquets and arrangements, the ceremony arch, the tablescape. The music playlist was consciously crafted to ease everyone through the day in a way that felt appropriate for the size and mood (think Lord of the Rings music during Gandalf’s ringbearer duties or Beach House during a candlelit dinner). All of this complimented the historic property they chose in such a beautifully ‘summer’ way and we wouldn’t have changed a thing, it felt perfect. There is such a vast spectrum when it comes to weddings and no two are exactly alike. This is part of what makes us love what we do and what keeps it interesting, keeps us on our toes. Tiana and Niko’s wedding was a dream we were allowed to be a part of, and we’re grateful for their trust and collaborative spirit.
